ILAM: Continuous rainfall over the past two days has cut off Ilam headquarters, Panchthar, and Taplejung from crucial road networks.

Traffic has completely shut down along the Rajduwali section of the Mechi Highway due to severe road subsistence, while floods have blocked alternative routes at the Jogmai and Puwa Khola diversions.

According to the Roads Division Office, the delay in receiving belly bridges from India has stalled repair efforts.

As a result, a massive number of cargo trucks carrying food, daily essentials, and construction materials remain stranded across the Mai Khola river, prompting warnings from the Ilam Chamber of Commerce about potential supply shortages and damage to goods.

With all major vehicular transport paralyzed, stranded commuters are left with no choice but to cross the landslide-damaged Rajduwali section on foot to reach their destinations.
