KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sushila Karki’s decision to appoint advocate Om Prakash Aryal as Minister for Law and Home Affairs in the interim government has sparked anger among Gen-Z protesters.
Late Sunday night, youths gathered outside Baluwatar, demanding that a Gen-Z leader—specifically Sudhan Gurung or another youth—be given the Home Ministry instead.
While they raised no objection to the appointments of Kulman Ghising as Energy Minister and Rameshwor Khanal as Finance Minister, Aryal’s inclusion drew sharp opposition.
Aryal, a former legal advisor to Kathmandu Metropolitan City who had played the role of facilitator during the movement, has thus become embroiled in controversy even before taking office.
His swearing-in, along with two others, is scheduled for Monday.
