KATHMANDU: A new app called ‘Loot Report’ has been launched to report and document incidents of looting, arson, and vandalism that occurred during the Gen Z movement.
Users can anonymously upload videos of these events on loot-report.lovable.app.
The app was introduced following incidents on September 8 and 9. By the time news was prepared, 1,916 videos had already been uploaded.
The platform is described as a “Community Power Reporting System,” aimed at helping identify and track suspicious activities.
The app’s description states: “In recent days, our country has faced chaos—vandalism, jail breakouts, looting, and violence. We do not want to forget these moments. This is a community-powered app where anyone can upload videos of incidents. Its sole purpose is documentation, not assigning blame.”
It further clarifies: “Individuals appearing in these videos are not automatically considered guilty. The app serves as a ‘what happened’ database, which can be used in the future by government authorities and the judicial system to identify those involved and hold them accountable.”
