HETAUDA: The foot and mouth disease that had spread in the livestock raised by farmers in various local levels of Makawanpur, including Hetauda Sub-metropolitan City, has been brought under control.
The disease has been brought under control after the Animal Services Office Makawanpur launched a vaccination campaign in the affected local levels. “The disease has been brought under control after a vaccination campaign,” said Dr Brijkishore Thakur, Chief of the Office based in Hetauda.
The vaccination campaign was conducted in all 10 municipalities of the district targeting domesticated animals affected by the foot and mouth disease, said Dr Thakur.
Dr Bijay Poudel, a veterinarian at the Animal Services Office, Hetauda, said that 2,339 livestock have been infected and 101 have perished so far by the disease, which has spread to nine out of the 10 municipalities in the district.
