KATHMANDU: Heavy rains across various parts of the country have triggered floods and landslides, completely blocking five major highways.

According to the Nepal Police Headquarters, landslides have fully obstructed the Koshi Highway at Barun, Bhot Khola-4, Sankhuwasabha, and at Ekuwa, Makalu-3, Sankhuwasabha.

Additionally, the Miteri Bridge connecting Nepal and China on the Pasang Lhamu Highway in Gosainkunda-2, Rasuwa; the Muglin-Narayangarh road section in Ichchhakamana-5, Chitwan; and the Mid-Hill Highway in Bhume-4, Rukum Purba, have also been completely blocked, said Central Police Spokesperson and Deputy Inspector General Binod Ghimire.

Meanwhile, the East-West Highway in Nawalpur, the Kali Gandaki Corridor in Baglung, and the Trishuli-Melung road in Rasuwa are operating partially in a single-lane mode.
