KATHMANDU: Nepal is experiencing above-average rainfall this Dashain, with showers currently in Gandaki and Lumbini provinces.
Moderate rain with thunderstorms is expected this afternoon in hilly and Terai areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Sudurpashchim, and Karnali provinces, with heavy rainfall possible in select hilly locations.
Notable rainfall is also likely on Navami (October 1) and Dashami (October 2), particularly in hilly regions of central and eastern Nepal. Forecast models indicate severe rain across the central to eastern regions from October 1 to 7, with the highest risk in Koshi and Bagmati provinces, including Kathmandu.
Travelers and farmers bringing in harvests are advised to exercise caution as rainfall could disrupt travel and agricultural activities. Despite early monsoon onset and significant precipitation forecasts, overall rainfall this year has so far been below average.
