KATHMANDU: Minister for Home Affairs Om Prakash Aryal has instructed security agencies to remain in a state of preparedness for potential disaster risk management and reduction.
He issued this instruction during an inspection visit to the Nepal Police Disaster Management Office in Samakhusi today.
On the occasion, Minister Aryal observed disaster-related mock rescue exercises and disaster rescue material storage, as well as gathered information about related activities.
After the inspection, Home Minister Aryal opined that despite limited resources and a lack of training, the work carried out by the Nepal Police in disaster management is praiseworthy. He also directed for being prepared to be immediately deployed at any time, with a sense of duty and high morale, to control and reduce potential loss of life and property from possible disaster risks.
Deputy Inspector General of Police Siddhi Bikram Shah, Head of the Administration Department of the Nepal Police Headquarters, expressed his gratitude while Senior Superintendent of Police Santosh Kumar Bhattarai, Head of the Disaster Management Office of the Nepal Police Headquarters, gave presentations on topics such as disaster incidents and police deployment, pre-monsoon preparedness and disaster response plans, the need for effective response, and future plans.
