KATHMANDU: Moderate to heavy rainfall continues across Koshi Province, while precipitation has begun easing in Bagmati and Madhes provinces.
The ongoing downpour has heightened the risk of flooding in several river basins.
The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology reports that water levels in at least eight major rivers—including Bagmati, Sunkoshi, Arun, Tamor, Kankai, Budi Khola (Sunsari), and Biring Khola (Jhapa)—have surged above the danger mark.
In addition, 12 other river monitoring stations have recorded water levels above the warning threshold, most of them still rising.
Rivers within the Bagmati, Kamala, and Koshi basins remain particularly vulnerable.
Officials have warned that high flood risk will persist in the affected rivers until Sunday evening, while moderate risks may continue until Monday morning.
Communities near riverbanks have been urged to remain on high alert and take necessary precautions against possible inundation and landslides.
