KATHMANDU: Police have arrested ten individuals, including Nicholas Bhusal, from Maitighar Mandala in Kathmandu.
According to Kathmandu District Police Range spokesperson SP Pawan Kumar Bhattarai, Bhusal and others were taken into custody while attempting to stage a protest in the Maitighar area under the banner of the “Gen Z Group.”
Bhusal had previously been arrested and later released after he leaked a photo showing himself sleeping in the same detention cell as Rabi Lamichhane while in custody in Kaski in connection with a cooperative fraud case.
SP Bhattarai said Bhusal reached Maitighar today, expressing dissatisfaction over the government’s failure to address the demands of the Gen Z Group.
The group had earlier announced plans to begin protests from Thursday but had withdrawn the call. Following the protest warning, police had deployed additional personnel around the Maitighar area and tightened security measures to prevent any possible demonstrations.
The Kathmandu District Administration Office has not granted permission for sit-ins or protests at Maitighar Mandala.
