SIMKOT: Twenty-two domestic tourists have been stranded in Takchi and Tumling of Namkha Rural Municipality–6 after snowfall blocked the road to Nyalu Lake, halting transportation services.
The tourists, who were traveling in Bolero jeeps, have been stuck in Takchi for the past four days.
The group was visiting Lapcha for a distant view of Mount Kailash and Mansarovar when sudden snowfall on October 9 and 10 blocked the Nyalu route, situated at an altitude of about 5,000 meters.
Out of the 22 tourists, eight have managed to move toward Hilsa after spending a night in Halji village of Limi, while 14 remain in Takchi.
The group heading toward Hilsa plans to return to Simkot via Nara Lake.Three to four feet of snow has accumulated on the Nyalu Lake road, completely disrupting transport.
Authorities say an excavator stationed in Limi will be used on Tuesday to clear the snow, after which transportation will resume and the stranded tourists in Takchi will be rescued.
