Pharmacy owner arrested in Morang

Police in Morang district on Sunday afternoon arrested a pharmacy owner on the charge of medicines black-marketing from Biratnagar Metropolitan City-15.

The arrested has been identified as Rabi Kumar Rajak (35), a resident of Biratnagar Metropolis. Rajak owns Janata Medical Store.

He was black-marketing by storing various medicines and medicine shells at his residence. Acting on a tip-off, joint security personnel deployed from Morang-based District Police Office (DPO) and Rani-based Area Police Office nabbed him. They also seized medicines used as physician’s sample, medicines related to heart ailments, and painkillers. The police also recovered antibiotics, injections, 46 cartons of cough syrup for children, and sanitiser.

He has been charged under the Black Marketing and Social Crimes and Punishments Act (2032) and further investigation is underway, informed DPO-Morang.

Police in Morang district arrested a pharmacy owner from Biratnagar Metropolitan City-9 on charge of black-marketing face masks on Saturday evening.

The arrestee has been identified as Bhupendranath Adhikari, a 31-year-old resident of Biratnagar Metropolis.

Adhikari is the owner of the pharmacy which is located opposite Koshi Hospital in Biratnagar Metropolitan City-7. Adhikari had been selling a full face mask for Rs 8,500 while the actual cost of one unit is Rs 6,880. He had sold one such face mask at a higher price to Shyam Chaudhary, a 37-year-old resident of Sunsari Municipality-7. Acting on a tip-off, security personnel deployed from the Morang-based District Police Office (DPO) arrested Adhikari from the pharmacy. They also seized one set of silicon full face mask from the pharmacy store.

He has been charged with the Black Marketing and Social Crimes and Punishments Act (2032) and further investigation is underway, informed DPO-Morang.
