KATHMANDU: Fourteen trekkers, including three Austrians and eleven Nepali guides, have gone missing in the Saribung Pass region linking Mustang and Manang.
The group lost contact on Tuesday following heavy snowfall at around 6,000 meters altitude near the Nepal–Tibet border.
Police believe the missing group might be safe at a Damodarkunda pilgrims’ rest house, which has food and shelter.
The team left Kathmandu two weeks ago through Himalayan Adventure Travel.
The company has requested the Home Ministry to trace phone signals and is preparing a helicopter rescue once their location is confirmed.
The trekkers were en route from Damodarkunda to Manang’s Phu village, heading toward Chame.
