KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has emphasized that policy measures are needed to ensure that foreign employment is safe and freely accessible.
During her address at a programme organized here today to mark the 18th establishment day of the Foreign Employment Board, the Prime Minister highlighted the need to guarantee transparency and dignity in foreign employment.
She also instructed the Board to implement measures for the respectful reintegration of foreign employment returnees within their families, along with ensuring their social security. The Prime Minister, who also serves as the Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security and as the Board Chair, stressed the need for providing skill training for those seeking foreign employment.
She stated that the government has pursued a policy of mobilizing the capital, skills, technology, and experiences gained during foreign employment into domestic productive sectors.
“The Call Center and telemedicine services launched by the Board to address issues faced by foreign migrants have proven useful for the welfare of workers,” the Prime Minister said.
She also echoed the need to focus equally on creating decent job opportunities within the country and prioritizing skills-based entrepreneurship and reintegration programmes. She directed the Ministry to prepare and implement an action plan to achieve these objectives.
