KATHMANDU: The government has been suggested that it made corruption control a major agenda.
Speakers at a programme organized by the Transparency International Nepal in the federal capital on Tuesday underscored urgency of corruption control and good governance, which they argued, was also the demand of Gen Z youths.
Former Auditor General and member of TI Nepal, Tank Mani Sharma, viewed it was corruption and misgovernance that fueled public disenchantment in the country. So, it time for political parties to correct themselves through good governance, he added.
Former Additional Inspector General of Nepal Police, Bishwo Raj Pokharel, asserted that national wealth is captured by the corrupt persons and cabals in Nepal. He demanded a commission to investigate the property of political parties that grabbed power since 2046BS.
In the discussion on ‘future strategy for corruption control in Nepal’, political representative, Ranju Darshana, said it is flawed policy and system that fomented corruption in our country.
Gen Z representative Ishwori Karki also made similar demand of probe into political leaders’ property. Thriving corruption is one of the reasons behind Gen Z protest. However, only collaborative efforts can clean out corruption.
Chairman of TI Nepal, Madan Krishna Sharma, said the programme would help on the moves to be taken for good governance.
