MAHENDRANAGAR: A woman was trampled by a wild elephant at Syaule of Bhimdutta Municipality-14 in Kanchanpur district.

Sagar Bohara, the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of the District Police Office, Kanchanpur, said that 45-year-old Dhana Bista was killed this morning in an attack by the wild tusker coming from the Shuklaphanta National Park.

Bista was critically injured in the attack while trying to escape from her house as the elephant demolished her house. She died at the Mahakali Provincial Hospital while receiving treatment.

A team of the Nepali Army deployed at the Shuklaphanta National Park and a police team from a nearby unit have been dispatched for the rescue operations after the elephant terror at the local community, it is said.
