KATHMANDU: Inspector General of Police Dan Bahadur Karki has said that despite the difficult circumstances and huge losses Nepal Police continuous to work for the security of citizens.
Inaugurating the Traffic Accident Reduction Special Campaign and Traffic Week, 2082 organized by the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Office here today, IGP Karki recalled that during the GenZ protests various offices and buildings of Nepal Police were set on fire, and the structures and equipment of the Traffic Police were severely damaged.
Inspector General Karki urged that Traffic Week, 2082 be considered not just as a formal program, but as a campaign to increase citizen awareness.
He expressed his belief that everyone in Nepal, from drivers to pedestrians, will fully comply with traffic rules. Active support, cooperation and participation of the general public is indispensable for the success of Traffic Week.
At the program, Deputy Mayor of Kathmandu Sunita Dangol expressed the view that since traffic rules are violated
by the educated class and the general public, this should be stopped through this campaign. The campaign will run until January 17.
On the occasion of the special campaign for traffic accident reduction and Traffic Week 2082, Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) correspondent Bimal Bahadur Bista was honoured.
At the program, IGP Karki honoured Bista with a letter of appreciation, recognizing his significant contributions to increasing traffic awareness, traffic police activities and disseminating news related to public interest.
