KATHMANDU: The second special general convention of the Nepali Congress is starting from Sunday at Bhrikutimandap. The inaugural session of the convention is set to begin shortly.
Under the convention schedule, a closed session will be held tomorrow.
The special general convention was called after 54 percent of the general convention representatives signed a proposal at the call of General Secretaries Gagan Thapa and Bishwo Prakash Sharma. According to Article 17(2) of the Nepali Congress statute, if at least 40 percent of the general convention representatives demand it, a special general convention must be convened within three months.
At present, leaders including General Secretary Thapa have already reached the convention venue at Bhrikutimandap. However, party President Sher Bahadur Deuba and Vice President Purna Bahadur Khadka are not in attendance.
