KATHMANDU: The Nepali national cricket team is set to travel to Sri Lanka and India for training in preparation for the ICC T20 Men’s World Cup 2026. The International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup is being jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka.
The Nepali team will complete two phases of preparation camps at home and then travel to Sri Lanka and India for training, according to the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN). Nepal will play practice matches against the ‘A’ team in Sri Lanka and the Mumbai Cricket Association team in India.
The Nepali team is currently practicing at the ‘Extratech Oval’ cricket ground in Rupandehi. The Nepali team will first travel to Sri Lanka and then to Mumbai, India for final preparations. The Nepali team will travel to Sri Lanka next week and will return to Mumbai after practicing for about a week, according to the CAN.
The Nepali national team led by captain Rohit Paudel comprises Vice-captains Dipendra Singh Airi, Sompal Kami, Karan KC, Nandan Yadav, Sandeep Lamichhane, Kushal Bhurtel, Aasif Sheikh, Sandeep Jora, Aarif Sheikh, Bashir Ahmed, Gulshan Jha, Lalit Rajbanshi, Sher Malla and Lokesh Bam.
