KATHMANDU: The Nepali Communist Party has finalized candidates for most of the constituencies in the Sudurpaschim Province for the upcoming election to the House of Representatives (HoR) scheduled for March 5.
Candidates have been confirmed in all constituencies expect for some constituencies in the province, according to Janak Buda, the party’s province secretary.
Buda informed that Ramlal Dagaura Tharu will contest from constituency no 1 in Kailali district while Birman Chaudhary has been chosen for constituency no 3 and Hari Chaudhary for constituency no 4 in the district.
Similarly, the party will field Bina Magar from constituency no 1 in Kanchanpur district, Lal Bahadur Khadka in constituency no 2 and Man Bahadur Sunar in constituency no 3.
Likewise, Dr Bhim Bahadur Rawal has been confirmed for constituency no 1 in Achham district and Sharat Singh Bhandari for constituency no 2 in the district, informed Buda.
Trilochan Bhatta, who served as the Chief Minister in Sudurpaschim Province in the past, will contest from Doti district.
Additionally, Buda shared that the party has almost finalized Prakash Bahadur Shah in Bajura district, Mansingh Mal in Dadheldhura, Laxman Dutta Joshi in Darchula, Parmananda Bhatta in Baitadi and Min Bahadur Kunwar in Bajhang district.
Candidates for constituency 2 and 5 in Kailali district will be announced soon, he added, noting the likelihood of Nanda Bahadur Saud receiving ticket for constituency no 2 and Prem Bahadur Ale for constituency no 5.
Meanwhile, other political parties including Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) have already sent the names of their prospective candidates to their central offices though they are yet to finalize the candidates to contest from the province’s different constituencies.
According to the election schedule approved by the Election Commission of Nepal, the deadline for candidate nomination is January 20.
