KATHMANDU: The 19th Session of the National Assembly (NA) is beginning from today.
As the parliament building located at the International Conference Centre in New Baneshwor was vandalized and set ablaze during the Gen Z uprising, preparations have been made to conduct sessions at the Federal Parliament Secretariat in Singha Durbar.
The meeting will take place at 11:00 am today. For the preparation of the session, NA Chairperson Narayan Prasad Dahal had already convened a meeting of the Rules Committee on Friday.
In the first meeting of the session, Chairperson Dahal will read out and announce the letter of convening the session from the President and a motion of condolence for the recently deceased Nepali Congress lawmaker Baldev Bohara has been featured in the agenda.
Meanwhile, the EC has also stepped up its preparation for the election of 19 National Assembly members scheduled for January 25.
As preparations for the House of Representatives election are underway and new members are about to be elected to the National Assembly, the session beginning today is viewed with significance.
