KATHMANDU: The Children as Zone of Peace (CZOP) National Campaign has said its serious attention has been drawn towards the activities where children are used for election publicity against election code of conduct.

The Campaign objected, saying it has received the information that children were found involved in rallies, used with t-shirt having election symbol of political parties and photo of candidates and engaged in different election related program carrying party’s flag in school uniform.

The CZOP urged the Election Commission for effective monitoring of election code of conduct and action against those violating it.
CZOP Chairperson Tilottam Poudel requested to establish children and schools as zone of peace by using children in political program.

Such activities carried out against Children Act, 2075, and Schools as Zone of Peace National Framework and Implementation Guidelines, 2068 make direct impact on children’s psychology, their security and school’s educational programs, Poudel argued, adding it also makes negative impact on children’s future and entire nation in a long-term manner.
