POKHARA: The New Diamond Sports Club won the Sixth Edition of the Tiger Cup National and International Invitational Club Championship Volley Competition under women’s category held in Pokhara.
Played at the volleyball court at the Pokhara Stadium, New Diamond Sports Club defeated departmental Nepal Police Club in straight sets of 25-11, 25-22 and 25-160.
Winning the competition, the New Diamond Sports Club bagged a cash prize of Rs 666,666.
Likewise, the first runner up Nepal Police Club received Rs 266,666 in cash.
The Thailand Queens was emerged the second runner up and won Rs 206,666 in cash.
The organizer said that Sumitra Regmi of New Diamond Sports Club was declared the best player of the competition. Regmi was provided with a cash prize of Rs 26,666.
Prativa Mali was declared the best server, Shantikala Tamang as the best libero, Pragati Nath as the best setter, Sunita Khatri as the best blocker, Pathaiya as the best spiker and Kumar Rai as the best coach. They received Rs 11,666 each in cash.
Organizing Tiger Group had won the fifth edition of the tournament under the women’s category last year.
The last match from the group under the men’s category in the competition is being played between Parbat Volleyball Association and Gandaki Province, which will decide the teams for the final match.
