BERLIN: Germany’s emphasis on environmentally friendly agriculture, future-oriented technology and global cooperation took center stage at the 100th anniversary of Grüne Woche Berlin, one of the world’s largest trade fairs for agriculture, food and sustainability, held last week in the German capital.

The centenary edition of the fair attracted more than 350,000 visitors and featured around 1,500 exhibitors from across the globe. Companies, institutions and policymakers used the platform to exchange knowledge, promote sustainable products and forge new international partnerships.

Nepal was represented at the event with two stalls, highlighting the country’s growing presence in international markets. The “Tee aus Nepal” stall showcased products from the Nepal Natural Tea Industry, while “Momo Haus” promoted Nepal’s signature dumplings to an international audience.

Both brands are already established in the German market, reflecting increasing acceptance of Nepali products in Europe. Officials and observers say their participation illustrates the potential of value-added Nepali agricultural and food products to compete globally, while also underscoring the deepening Nepal–Germany economic and cultural ties.

Grüne Woche has long served as a global platform for discussions on sustainability, food security and innovation in agriculture—areas that Germany considers central to addressing climate change and ensuring a healthier planet.
