Pillion rider dies in motorbike accident

JHAPA: A pillion rider died when a motorbike met the accident on the Mechi Bridge in Mechinagar Municipality-6 on Friday evening.

The motorcycle with registration number (Pr1–01–012 Pa 3849) heading to Nepal from India, accidently hit a barricade placed on the road at 10:00 pm.

According to Khagendra Bahadur Khadka, the information officer of the Jhapa District Police Office, pillion rider Chetan Katuwal, 40, from Mechinagar-6 died.

Katuwal, who was seriously injured in the accident, was immediately taken to Mechi AMDA Hospital, Dhulabari, for treatment.

During treatment, doctors declared him dead at 10:55 pm, the police informed. Motorbike rider, 35-year-old Kashinath Paudel from Mechinagar-6, was also injured in the accident. He was sent to B and C Hospital in Birtamod for treatment, the police informed.

The body of the deceased Katuwal is currently kept at Mechi Amda Hospital. Police suspected that the accident occurred due to high speed. Khadka shared that further investigation into the incident is ongoing.
