KRITIPUR: The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier concluded on Sunday after the game between Scotland and the USA ended with Scotland winning the game by 41 runs in the Super Six stage match held at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground.
With the completion of the qualifier, four teams to play in the ICC Women’s World Cup to be held in the UK and Wales next year were confirmed. The four teams include Bangladesh, Ireland, Scotland and the Netherlands.
Scotland had won the toss and chose to bat first, scoring 178 runs with the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs. The USA managed to score only 137 runs by losing all wickets in 19 overs.
A total of 10 teams including Nepal played 29 matches at TU Cricket Ground and Mulpani Cricket Ground in Kathmandu during this ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier.
Nepal remained in the fourth position among five teams of the Group B with three defeats and a lone victory in this ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier.
Bangladesh won all four games played and managed to collect 10 points to lift the trophy.
Bangladeshi Captain Joti Sultana was declared the ‘Player of the Tournament’ and America’s Tara Norris was named as the best bowler.
