HETAUDA: A female leopard was found dead on the banks of the Mahalakshmi River in Ward 9 of Thaha Municipality, Makwanpur.

Local residents spotted the carcass on Monday evening and immediately informed the police.

Following the report, a police team from the Chitlang Area Police Post reached the site and managed the leopard’s carcass at Godamchaur in the presence of the chairperson and officials of the Margin Community Forest Users Group, local representatives, and residents, said Pushkar Bogati, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Hetauda.

Police said further investigation is underway to determine the cause of the leopard’s death.
