KATHMANDU: To position the country as an international film filming destination, the Film Development Board and Nepal Tourism Board signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Wednesday.

The agreement aims to promote film tourism, showcase filming locations, create jobs, strengthen the local economy, and ensure Nepal’s active presence in global film festivals.

The MoU was signed by Nepal Tourism Board CEO Deepak Raj Joshi and Film Development Board Executive Chairman Dinesh DC.

Both officials highlighted the partnership as a platform for long-term strategic coordination between the film and tourism sectors and committed to jointly developing ‘Film Tourism’ in Nepal.

Key initiatives under the agreement include promoting Nepal at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, organizing a film festival in Pokhara, launching an audio-visual storytelling campaign, and producing promotional materials to attract tourists.

The initiative is expected to bring international attention to the country’s lesser-known natural and cultural heritage sites, benefiting local hotels, transport services, guides, and small businesses.
