KATHMANDU: The Government of India on Wednesday handed over the third tranche of election-related assistance to Nepal at a ceremony held at the Ministry of Home Affairs in Kathmandu.

The assistance was formally presented by India’s Ambassador to Nepal, Naveen Srivastava, to Nepal’s Minister for Home Affairs, Om Prakash Aryal. The event was attended by senior officials from both sides.

The third tranche comprises more than 270 vehicles and related supplies, provided in line with Nepal’s requirements for preparations for the forthcoming March 05 elections. The consignment includes 50 trucks for the Nepali Army, which were received by the Chief of Army Staff Ashok Raj Sigdel from Ambassador Srivastava.

Earlier, the first and second tranches of election-related assistance—comprising over 310 vehicles and other supplies—were handed over on 20 January and 29 January 2026, respectively. Additional consignments are expected to be delivered in batches in the coming days.

The continued support reflects the multi-faceted and multi-sectoral development partnership between India and Nepal and reinforces the deep-rooted ties of friendship and cooperation between the peoples of the two countries.
