Durga Prasai’s detention extended for four days

KATHMANDU: The District Administration Office, Kathmandu has permitted Nepal Police to keep in detention medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai for four more days.

The District Police Office, Kathmandu had arrested Prasai, also the coordinator of nationality, religion and citizen protection campaign, from his Bhaktapur-based residence on Monday. He was presented before the court on Tuesday.

Superintendent of Police Pawan Kumar Bhattarai informed that Prasai was held on charge of spreading misleading information on election, which was subject to a crime against public peace. His detention was extended for further investigation, Bhattarai added.

The controversial medical entrepreneur Prasai was making baseless statement that the House of Representatives election could not be held on March 5. He has been arrested frequently over his baseless remarks.

Earlier, he was arrested from Dakchhinkali while heading to Birgunj some days back and released later.
