KATHMANDU: Benisha Hamal, a familiar face in the film industry for the past 14 years, has built a diverse portfolio with more than a dozen films to her credit, including Mokshya, Blind Rocks, and Chhakka Panja 4.

With winter now receding and a new season settling in, she has already returned to the screen with The Blue Light, Eklo 1, and Bigul, all of which have been released recently.

Her directorial venture, the short film Missing Bride, was also unveiled on YouTube some time ago, marking a notable step in her journey beyond acting.

In a light winter conversation with Nepal News, Hamal shares her seasonal favorites and reflections:

Three winter indulgences you swear by?

Soaking up the sun, oranges within reach, and disappearing into a film from the comfort of a blanket cocoon.

Your winter style staple?

Long coats, knee-high boots, and short silhouettes layered with stockings. Warm, but never boring.

Things you don’t feel like doing at all in the winter?

Early alarms, late-night shoots, and painfully punctual morning meetings.

Your winter comfort cravings?

Steaming green tea, a bold hot and sour, and a bubbling Chinese hot pot. If it does not come with steam, I am not interested.

Cold or hot showers in winter?

Cold in the morning, always. It wakes me up better than coffee. But after a long day on set, a late-night shower calls for unapologetically hot water.

How does winter alter your daily rhythm?

In the summer, I am out the door by 6 AM or 7 AM for a walk or at the gym. In winter, that discipline politely shifts to 9 AM or 10 AM, and sometimes the ‘morning workout’ quietly turns into a less matutinal one.

What instantly refreshes your winter mood?

Trekking. And snow. A mountain trail and a white landscape do more for my mood than any playlist ever could.
