KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress President has voiced serious concern over the escalating conflict in the Middle East, emphasizing the increased danger faced by Nepalis living and working in the region.
He urged Nepalis abroad to stay informed, follow safety protocols carefully, and remain in secure locations except for essential movements.
He also called on the Nepal government, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Nepali embassies in the affected countries to closely monitor the situation, provide timely assistance, and take urgent steps to safeguard Nepalis. Over 1.9 million Nepali workers are employed across the Gulf countries, making the region a critical area of concern.
The heightened tensions follow a series of strikes by the United States and Israel across Iran, including in the capital, Tehran, described by US President Donald Trump as “major combat operations.”
In retaliation, Iran has targeted US military assets across Gulf Arab states, including Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates, where American bases are located. The Fars news agency confirmed the Iranian attacks on Saturday, signaling the risk of the region being drawn into a prolonged conflict.
