Expressing confidence in dedicated government employees, the Head of the State noted that self-motivated, disciplined, ethical, responsible employees, committed to serve the nation, could play a decisive role in achieving meaningful outcomes.
He stressed that the bureaucracy must earn citizens’ trust through the use of technology and smart service delivery systems.
During his address, President Paudel highlighted the importance of protecting country’s merit-based system established under the Constitution’s principles of inclusive democracy and underscored the need to further strengthen its foundation.
According to him, the public’s confidence in the Public Service Commission and the principles it upholds had enabled hardworking young people to seek future within a democratic governance system with optimism and security.
Commending the credentials of the Commission, President Paudel mentioned, “We must not forget that, because of the Commission’s credibility and the systems it has adopted, diligent youth have been able to see a secure future for themselves in democratic governance.”
He also expressed hope that the Commission would continue refining its work by drawing on past experience, accumulated knowledge and global best practices in public administration and recruitment systems.
He acknowledged that, as the Commission’s responsibilities continue to expand, it faces the challenge of making its operations more technology-driven, scientific, systematic and quality-oriented while planning for the future.
On the occasion, President Paudel suggested the Commission to review its past performance and formulate strategic plans for the years ahead.
He lauded the Public Service Commission for effectively carrying out its constitutional mandate of selecting qualified personnel for government institutions.
