Koshi unveils Rs 40.44 billion budget, up 12.7% from last year

BIRATNAGAR: The Koshi Province government on Monday presented a Rs 40.449 billion budget for fiscal year 2026/27, which is 12.74 percent higher than the budget introduced for the current fiscal year.

Presenting the budget in the Provincial Assembly, Economic Affairs and Planning Minister Bidur Lingthep allocated Rs 13.976 billion for current expenditure, Rs 20.759 billion for capital expenditure, and Rs 150 million for financial management.

The government expects to raise Rs 5.5 billion from internal revenue, Rs 12.87 billion from federal revenue sharing, Rs 9.12 billion from fiscal equalization grants, Rs 5.95 billion from conditional grants, and Rs 640 million from complementary grants.

The province had announced a Rs 35.879 billion budget for the current fiscal year, which was later revised to Rs 32.456 billion through a mid-term review.
