KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) has issued an interim order not to place Kishori Sah ‘Kamal’, a candidate of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) from Dhanusha Constituency No. 1, on the blacklist.
On Thursday, a single bench of Supreme Court Justice Sharanga Subedi issued the interim order in the name of the Credit Information Bureau instructing it not to blacklist Sah.
The Election Commission had annulled Sah’s candidacy after stating that his name appeared on the blacklist of the Credit Information Bureau.
Following the commission’s decision to invalidate his candidacy, Sah filed a case at the Supreme Court making the Credit Information Bureau the defendant.
During the vote count in Dhanusha-1, votes had been cast in favor of Sah even though his candidacy had been annulled. Although Sah received the highest number of votes, the Election Commission declared the runner-up, Matrika Yadav of the Nepali Communist Party (NCP) elected, as Sah’s candidacy had been cancelled.
