KATHMANDU: Heavy rainfall accompanied by hailstones is occurring in various parts of the Kathmandu Valley.
The rain, which began Friday morning in several districts of western Nepal along with strong winds, has now moved into the Kathmandu Valley.
Due to thick clouds brought by the storm, it appears unusually dark even during the daytime. The sudden change in weather and reduced visibility have caused difficulties for vehicles, commuters, and pedestrians.
Earlier, different districts in Sudurpashchim, Karnali, Lumbini, and Gandaki provinces also experienced rainfall with strong winds. According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the weather system causing the rain is gradually moving toward the northeast.
The Division has urged the public to remain cautious, as there is still a possibility of rain, hail, and windstorms in various parts of the country.
It has also advised people to avoid unnecessary travel and take necessary precautions to minimize potential damage caused by the adverse weather conditions.
