KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu District Court has refused to keep businessman Shekhar Golchha in custody, directing authorities to continue the investigation while he remains on bail.

A bench led by Judge Mona Singh denied the Central Investigation Bureau’s request for remand extension, citing a prior Supreme Court order that allowed investigation in the securities case without detention.

Golchha, who faces cases under both securities and insurance laws, has already recorded his statement, while the detention hearing is still pending.

He was released earlier in the securities case following a Supreme Court directive, but was immediately taken under control again by the CIB in connection with the insurance case.

The district court has now ruled that even this probe must proceed without custody.
