Nepal replaces UN peacekeeping contingent in Lebanon

KATHMANDU: Nepal has carried out a rotation of its peacekeeping troops deployed in Lebanon under the United Nations peacekeeping mission.

According to a press note issued on Monday by the Directorate of Public Relations and Information of the Nepal Army, 91 Nepali peacekeepers from the 67th contingent of Bishnudal Battalion have departed for the mission area to replace the 66th contingent of Sabuj Battalion.

The outgoing 91 peacekeepers, who completed their tenure in the mission, returned home on May 8.

The Nepal Army stated that a total of 554 Nepali peacekeepers are currently serving in the Lebanese mission.
