KATHMANDU: Following a growing number of complaints about students being cheated in the name of foreign study, the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office has conducted a raid on educational consultancies operating in the valley.

On Friday, the office carried out simultaneous inspections and raids on 95 consultancies across different locations in Kathmandu Valley, taking 69 people into custody.

According to police, many of these institutions are suspected of operating without completing required legal procedures, collecting money by promising overseas placements, and engaging in irregularities related to documentation.

Those detained will undergo initial screening, after which further investigations will proceed based on the nature of the offenses.

The investigation team has also collected details related to financial transactions, visa processing, and academic documents from several consultancies.

Police have warned that action will continue against institutions operating without legal permission or those involved in fraud under the guise of educational consultancy services.
