KATHMANDU: A 25-year-old inmate, Sapana Tamang of Bidur Municipality, who escaped from Sundhara prison at midnight, has been arrested.
According to the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, Tamang was apprehended from Asan.
Tamang, who had been serving a life sentence, escaped from prison at around 1 AM on Friday night. Prison authorities said she appeared to have climbed over the wall after placing certain objects on the ground to aid her escape.
She had been serving a life sentence after being convicted in cases related to theft and murder.
Authorities also revealed that Tamang had previously escaped during the Gen Z movement protests and was recaptured two months later. This time, she was arrested within three days of her escape.
