KATHMANDU: Renowned mountaineer Lhakpa Sherpa has reflected on her 11th ascent of Mount Everest in a Facebook post shared on Tuesday.

In her post, Sherpa described unusually high traffic on the world’s highest peak this climbing season, noting a mix of highly experienced climbers alongside many first-time mountaineers.

“There were so many people at Everest this year. Some people were incredibly skilled and others were very new to mountaineering,” she wrote, pointing to the growing commercialization and crowding on the route to the summit.

Sherpa also noted visible changes in the summit area compared to her earlier climbs.

“The top of Everest has changed so much, it looks completely different to me,” she said, adding that the summit face appeared oriented toward the Nepal side and resembled a “cobra face.”

Expressing gratitude, Sherpa thanked her supporters and fellow climbers. “Thank you all for your support and encouragement! I couldn’t have done it without you all,” she wrote.

She also paid tribute to Sherpa guides involved in expedition logistics and route preparation, calling them the “true heroes” of Everest expeditions.

Her 11th Everest ascent adds to her record as one of the most accomplished female climbers on the world’s highest peak, amid ongoing concerns over crowding, safety, and environmental pressure during peak climbing seasons.
