KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has directed authorities to complete the investigation against Durga Prasai during the period of his second remand extension.

A joint bench of Justices Binod Sharma and Nityananda Pandey issued the directive while hearing a habeas corpus petition filed on behalf of Prasai.

The District Police Office Parsa had extended his detention by four more days on Thursday. According to the police information officer in Parsa, the second extension of his remand will expire on Monday.

The Supreme Court ordered the authorities to complete the investigation within that timeframe and decide whether or not to file a case against him. If a case is not filed within the given period, the court ordered that Prasai be released from custody.

Prasai was arrested by police from Parsa and is currently being held in custody at the Parsa District Police Office.
