KATHMANDU: The Prithvi Highway has been completely shut down following relentless landslides in the Tigrang mining area near Jawang Khola in Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality-10, Dhading.
The District Administration Office of Dhading issued an emergency notice on Thursday evening, announcing that the highway is blocked in both directions.
For the safety of travelers, all vehicular movement has been suspended until further notice.
Local authorities emphasized that the continuous fall of debris has made the stretch of road extremely dangerous.
The decision to halt traffic was made as a precautionary measure to prevent potential casualties and property damage.
The administration has urged all commuters traveling to and from the Kathmandu Valley to take alternative routes and carefully follow updates from official channels.
To assist travelers and drivers during this disruption, the administration has urged anyone in need of coordination or information to contact the Nepal Police at their hotline number 100, the Armed Police Force Nepal at 1114, or the District Emergency Operation Center at 1234.
As the Prithvi Highway is one of the nation’s most vital transport arteries, this closure is expected to disrupt the plans of thousands of passengers traveling between Kathmandu, Pokhara, and western Nepal.
