POKHARA: The Pokhara Metropolitan City has officially launched a campaign to demolish illegal structures built encroaching upon the Phirke Khola, following the expiration of a 35-day public notice.

Aimed at restoring the river’s natural flow and mitigating monsoon flooding risks, the operation began simultaneously across three major locations spanning Wards 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 18.

Heavy machinery, including excavators and JCBs, has been deployed for the daily operations, which are being personally monitored and led on-site by Mayor Dhanraj Acharya along with local ward representatives.
