KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court issued a clarification on Wednesday dismissing media and social media rumors that it plans to scrap the lottery-based cause list system.

Rumors had circulated that following the appointment of the new Chief Justice Manoj Kumar Sharma, the court would revert to manual bench assignments.

Court Spokesperson Arjun Prasad Koirala stated that no formal discussions regarding an alternative have occurred, calling the reports baseless.

Introduced in 2021 to ensure transparency and curb judicial manipulation, the lottery system remains fully operational across the Supreme, High, Special and District Courts.
