KASKI: Even before the arrival of this year’s monsoon, the ground has started to sink in various locations of Pokhara.
In Pokhara Metropolitan City-3, Nadipur area, a section of the road along with the courtyard and a portion of a house collapsed into the ground at around 2 AM on Friday morning.
According to local residents, the danger has heightened as the ground suddenly gave way in the morning, creating a sinkhole of about 10 meters, which also ruptured a major pipeline laid down for water distribution in Pokhara. Locals have expressed deep concern as ground-sinking incidents occur repeatedly in this area.
Inspecting the affected site, Chief District Officer of Kaski, Rudra Devi Sharma, suggested that local representatives of the respective ward consult with technicians as necessary to secure the area, noting that further damage and disaster risks could escalate.
