DUBAI: The Consulate General of Nepal in Dubai has started processing passport applications under Nepal’s new passport system and has urged applicants to seek the service only for urgent cases during the system’s initial transition period.

In a notice issued on Monday (July 13), the consulate said it had completed the necessary technical preparations and began accepting passport applications from the first day of the new system’s implementation. It cautioned that minor technical issues and slower processing may occur as the system stabilizes.

The consulate said priority will be given to applicants with urgent needs, including those whose passports have been lost, expired, or are about to expire, those requiring a new passport for immediate visa renewal, and newborns applying for their first passport.

Applicants have been asked to complete the online application form before visiting the consulate for biometric enrollment and other formalities. Those with extremely urgent cases who are unable to submit the online application may contact the consulate through its designated WhatsApp number.

The consulate thanked service seekers for their patience and cooperation while the new passport system becomes fully operational.
