High winds and rain expected across Terai and hilly belts

KATHMANDU: The Meteorological Forecasting Division under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has reported that Nepal is currently experiencing the joint influence of a western low-pressure trough in the upper atmosphere, local winds, and another low-pressure trough stretching from west to east near the country.

According to the Division, skies are completely cloudy in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.

Meanwhile, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces are experiencing generally cloudy conditions in their hilly and mountainous regions.

The remaining plains (Terai) are partly cloudy. Currently, light to moderate rainfall is occurring in one or two places across Koshi, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces.

Skies will remain generally cloudy across the country this afternoon.

Light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is expected in several places within the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, as well as throughout Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces.

Furthermore, a few areas in Madhesh Province and the Terai plains of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpashchim provinces will also likely see rain and snowfall.

There is also a possibility of strong winds and storms in several plains and hilly regions across the country.

Tonight, skies will stay generally cloudy in Sudurpashchim Province as well as the hilly and mountainous regions of the country. The remaining areas will see partly cloudy skies.

There is a possibility of light rain and snowfall in a few places within the hilly and mountainous terrains of Sudurpashchim, Karnali, and Gandaki provinces, as well as one or two places in the mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Lumbini provinces.
