KATHMANDU: Ten major student organizations have issued a joint statement strongly condemning Prime Minister Balendra Shah’s recent parliamentary remarks regarding Nepal’s borders, labeling them “anti-national and against national interest.”
The student leaders argued that the Prime Minister’s statements weaken Nepal’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, especially given ongoing border disputes over Lipulekh, Kalapani, and Limpiadhura.
They further claimed the remarks—made just ahead of ruling party leader Rabi Lamichhane’s visit to India—reflect a deeper, compromised political mindset rather than a simple oversight.
The coalition has demanded that Prime Minister Shah immediately withdraw the controversial statements and issue a public apology to the nation, warning of nationwide protests and resistance if he fails to do so.
