Nine arrested while gambling in Kailali

KATHMANDU: Police have arrested nine individuals along with cash while they were caught gambling in Kailali. According to the District Police Office, the arrests were made at Rajipur in Gauriganga Municipality-4.

Police stated that acting on a special tip-off, a raid was conducted on Sunday evening around 6:30 PM at a two-story concrete house belonging to Jagat Dhami in Bajhangi Tol, Rajipur.

During the operation, police caught the individuals gambling in the sitting room on the upper floor of the house. Authorities confiscated Rs 179,020 in cash, four decks of playing cards, and eight mobile phones from the scene.

Those arrested include the homeowner, 48-year-old Jagat Dhami, and local residents 29-year-old Krishna Gurudhami, 37-year-old Khemraj Pokharel, 35-year-old Shankar Dhami, and 30-year-old Gopal Saud. Additionally, 34-year-old Prakash Bhul of Gauriganga-1, 44-year-old Jaya Bahadur Bohara of Chure Rural Municipality-1, 66-year-old Tej Bahadur Bogati of Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City-3, and 50-year-old Kalu Singh Dhami of Purchaudi Municipality-8, Baitadi, were also taken into custody.

The police confirmed that the arrested individuals are currently being held and further investigation is underway.
