KATHMANDU: The police have arrested two Chinese nationals from Naxal, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-1.

According to the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, the two individuals were apprehended on Monday from an office named Anthro Technology, which they had set up in the RR Building located in Narayanchaur.

The arrested individuals have been identified as 33-year-old Wang Wend and 32-year-old Chen Xuangui, both from Fujian, China.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Rameshwar Karki, the spokesperson for the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, stated that the Chinese nationals were running the office to conduct highly suspicious activities. Investigations revealed that both individuals had entered Nepal on tourist (visit) visas but were actively working in direct violation of their visa conditions.

According to the police, the suspects were operating an illicit online scheme.

They used a “Live Hub” app to create accounts featuring foreign models and young women, which they then used to target and befriend foreign and Indian nationals in order to solicit money.

Following their arrest, the police have handed both individuals over to the Department of Immigration in Kalikasthan for further legal action.
